History of MAGMO
The Maharashtra State Gazetted Medical Officers (Group A) Association, popularly known as MAGMO, has a proud and inspiring history. Its roots lie in the early 1980s, a time when government medical officers across Maharashtra were struggling without a collective voice. Service conditions were uncertain, promotions were delayed, and postings often felt arbitrary. Though attempts had been made earlier in the 1960s and 70s to form an organization, they could not take lasting shape.
It was during this difficult period that Dr. Sujata Dhawale, a determined and visionary leader, stepped forward. With a spirit of fearlessness, she began uniting medical officers from every corner of Maharashtra. Along with her close associate Dr. D.D. Shinde, she toured villages, towns, and cities, meeting officers and explaining the need for a strong, united association. Her tireless efforts brought new energy to the medical fraternity.
As the newly elected President of the Maharashtra State Gazetted Medical Officers (Group A) Association, I feel proud to serve a community of dedicated public health professionals. Our members are the frontline force of the healthcare system, working tirelessly across Maharashtra. This year, we aim to move forward with a renewed focus on unity, transparency, and professional development. Together, we will strengthen our voice, secure our rights, and enhance our services for the people.
